We are delighted to announce that Isocom has been rated “excellent” in an independent test report assessing our optocouplers' radiation survival capabilities in space environments. The evaluation, conducted by Alter Technology, one of Europe's leading test house consultants, focused on optocouplers for our existing customers and measured their performance under ESA standard radiation conditions.
Test Highlights:
- Radiation Withstanding: Minimum 100KRad(SI)
- Displacement Damage: 1Mev at 10-12
- CTR Performance: 85% after radiation test at 10mA input current and 5V operation.
- Leakage Current: Extremely low in nano amps
Key Outcomes: The radiation tests indicate that Isocom optocouplers exhibit:
- High reliability
- Low degradation
- Robust survivability in space environments
Isocom's CEO and Managing Director Thomas Bayat emphasised the importance for engineers to understand the impact of space environments on components and systems, particularly in GEO and LEO orbits.
He explained “The excellent result underscores our commitment to manufacturing high reliability radiation hard optocouplers in Europe for over 40 years. It also reinforces our foundation to continue building a sustainable and forward-thinking manufacturing business in the United Kingdom”.
The Excellent Test Results were driven by several factors including:
- Our management team sees the Quality of Manufacturing products as an important priority
- We have made significant efforts to improve our facilities by investing in new production and testing equipment
- We are approved to AS9100D and ISO9001 quality standards and offer full screening capabilities in accordance with MIL-PRF-19500 and MIL-PRF-385334.
These efforts collectively contribute to the outstanding performance of our optocouplers in rigorous space environment tests. We are proud of our achievements and look forward to continuing our legacy of excellence in the industry.
We are delighted that this test report recognises the manufacturing and quality value that Isocom is delivering to its customers in the space industry. We are pleased with our progress with our engineering and technology strategy. This area is a significant focus for our employees and directors, as well as for many of our customers worldwide.
Whilst this assessment of our optocouplers is a great outcome, we are not resting on our laurels. We are planning a number of initiatives to improve our product range including benchmarking our performance and tracking our future development goals in space application environments.
